GOOD BLOGGING REJOINDER
John Lemon responds to Glenn’s blogging advice I linked yesterday with an interesting point: most bloggers don’t have the time to be good bloggers because they have jobs and families and such. Being original, posting a lot, and spell checking take a lot of time and energy and, dang it, Lemonhead is fresh out. Plus, he doesn’t get paid $80k a year like Andrew Sullivan, so what does he care?
So, go on over and read his crappy blog–he’s doing the best he can.
Sully gets 80K every six months… It must really suck to be him.
That’s 160K a year, last I checked.
A bunch, to be sure. He had raised 80k the first time and then held another one 6 months later. I’m not sure if he managed to raise another 80k or not.
Actually, I’m compensated pretty well, but I don’t get paid to blog (unless writing useless articles for publications and edited volumes) counts as blogging. Sad to say, I think more people have read my blog than my most recent published article.
John, your parentheses ended in the wrong place. Was that done to reinforce your image as an absent-minded academician who needs an editor for his blogging life?
James–I actually followed all those links back and forth between you and John. (And I’d already read Glenn’s article last night.) I felt like Alice, dreaming about the Red King, who’s dreaming about Alice, who’s . . .
Not that it wasn’t fun.
John: Yeah–I meant $80k a year for running his blog.
