GROUND WAR ON

GROUND WAR ON: WaPo reports U.S. Ground Forces Fire on Iraqi Troops.

The two artillery systems are the Paladin, which has been around since Vietnam but has been vastly upgraded several times and the MLRS, which has gone through two generations of change since my days as an MLRS platoon leader. Indeed, the MLRS has now been around 20 years. I’m getting old. . . .

Trivia note: The 3rd Infantry Division, which traces its lineage to Audie Murphy and beyond, is actually Barry McCaffrey’s old 24th ID, which distinguished itself in the last Gulf War, and was re-flagged during the 1990s drawdown. (See here for more.)
