Housekeeping Note: OTB Blog Edition
For those readers who haven't warmed up to the magazine layout of the front page, something more akin to the standard blog layout is one click away.
For those readers who haven’t warmed up to the magazine layout of the front page, something more akin to the standard blog layout is available at https://www.outsidethebeltway.com/blog/, which is easily accessible by clicking on “Read all posts” at the bottom of the home page. This is also the easiest way to get a reverse chronological listing of posts — including “Quick Picks” — that you may have missed if you’ve been away for a few days.
I read the blog through my Google Feed anyways, so it doesn’t really bother me.
There is one thing, though, since we’re on the topic of board structure: what happened to the search function? Was that deliberate, or just a side-effect of the change in website structure?
what happened to the search function?
It’s at the top right of the site.
Do you know that it’s not showing up in Firefox 3.6? I found it on IE, but not on Firefox.

Hmm. Firefox 3.6.6 is my primary browser and I see it just fine. It’s only on the front page.
I like it, but since the articles are truncated, why not more per page?
(The most useful thing is the comment count on the index page. I can glance and see where discussions are ongoing)
It’s okay, I found out what was causing it. It was the AdBlock add-on for Firefox. I disabled it for the OTB website.

I need to get the “Related Posts” turned off for non-individual-post pages first and then I’ll tackle that. I agree, more makes sense with excerpted posts.

I’ve got a request in to add that to the front page. Aesthetically, it’ll probably be limited to the top posts, but they may work for the three-per-column ones.
