IS DUBYA UP TO IT? Slate’s Fred Kaplan argues that the president is botching the Iraq crisis with his clumsy, naive unilateralism. Kaplan’s analysis is more nuanced than most of the anti-war crowd is offering these days, but still falls back on the tired chiches about unilateralism and Bush being clueless. Anyone who honestly believes the president is unaware that there are Sunni and Shi’a factions in Iraq is, shall we say, a couple sandwiches short of a picnic.
