Islam: The Religion of Peace…

…or maybe not.

Tehran, Iran, Jan. 07 – An Iranian court has sentenced a teenage rape victim to death by hanging after she weepingly confessed that she had unintentionally killed a man who had tried to rape both her and her niece.

The state-run daily Etemaad reported on Saturday that 18-year-old Nazanin confessed to stabbing one of three men who had attacked the pair along with their boyfriends while they were spending some time in a park west of the Iranian capital in March 2005.

Nazanin, who was 17 years old at the time of the incident, said that after the three men started to throw stones at them, the two girls’ boyfriends quickly escaped on their motorbikes leaving the pair helpless.

She described how the three men pushed her and her 16-year-old niece Somayeh onto the ground and tried to rape them, and said that she took out a knife from her pocket and stabbed one of the men in the hand.

As the girls tried to escape, the men once again attacked them, and at this point, Nazanin said, she stabbed one of the men in the chest. The teenage girl, however, broke down in tears in court as she explained that she had no intention of killing the man but was merely defending herself and her younger niece from rape, the report said.

The court, however, issued on Tuesday a sentence for Nazanin to be hanged to death.

…and of course, if she was raped, that would make her a whore. She must therefore be stoned to death!

Islam is evil, but the ACLU is not to far behind what I have read in your post, and let us not forget some of our liberal judges. Oh and I can’t wait till that mound of human trash of a goverment gets what is coming to it.Please pray for that poor girl.

I wonder what the people of Iran think of this. Do they even know about it? Are issues such as this the kind of thing that would bring an internal uprising to depose the mullahs?

From our point of view this is a barbaric sentence but what if it is business as usual in Iran?

Sorry the post is all questions but the answers to these questions could help us formulate a policy to deal with Iran and it’s present leadership.

Thinking longer on this, I conclude that the courts think that she is indeed a whore, as they were with their “boyfriends” in a park…unescorted. THEREFORE, they were on their way to practice their filthy whorish ways…THEREFORE, they deserved to be taught a lesson by their attackers…THEREFORE, she is unjustified in “defending” herself against rightous men…

Sounds vaguely like the Monty Python and the Holy Grail witch burning scene…which would be funny in this case if it was not so horrifically real.

Yeah – the ACLU totally hates women who kill in self defense. I heard they cook and eat Christian babies too.

Not as preposterous as it sounds, I’m afraid. I have read at least one position paper by religious liberals arguing that a woman must not defend herself against rape, lest she accidentally kill the rapist and send him straight to Hell. I wish I was joking, but I’m not.

This does not make Islam not a religion of peace, it makes Iran a country of oppressive/unequal jurisprudence in practice. But then how many in USA are imprisoned or received the death penalty for what was unintentional murder? Doe this make christianity or democracy not a system of peace?
