Koran Burning Florida Pastor Hangs President Obama In Effigy

When we last heard from Florida Pastor Terry Jones he had burned a Koran, an event that set off protests in Afghanistan that resulted in the deaths of several American soldiers. Now, he’s moved on to hanging the President of the United States in effigy:

The Florida pastor who ignited an international furor by threatening to burn a pile of Korans has applied his subtle touch to the 2012 presidential campaign by constructing a gallows from which a likeness of President Barack Obama now hangs in effigy.

The display in the front yard of Terry Jones’s Dove World Outreach Center (DWOC) in Gainesville features a dummy wearing an Obama mask hanging from a yellow noose. Along with an American flag and a rainbow-striped gay pride flag, the scene includes an Uncle Sam dummy and a child’s doll hanging from the right hand of the Obama figure.

Nearby, the words “Obama is Killing America” are printed on a trailer. So, it appears, the creepy Jones is returning the favor.

Yes, I think the Secret Service will be stopping by Pastor Jones’s abode very soon.

    Hey, it’s Florida.

  2. Eric says:

I wonder if Jones just stops and think, “I wonder if this is a good idea.”?

Wow. There’s crazy. Then there’s batshit crazy. Then there’s off the rails batshit crazy. Then there’s the likes of Terry Jones. This dude gives those Westboro Baptist Church lunatics some serious competition. Obviously Jones is suffering from a severe mental disorder and probably involuntarily should be institutionalized.

  4. @Tsar Nicholas:

No, he’s perfectly sane, he’s just an attention whore. His Koran burning act had gotten old and was no longer getting him interviews with national media, so he had to up the ante to get back into the headlines.

Doesn’t this violate some tax exempt status policy? Or is this Mensa member’s “church” even legitimate enough to receive those benefits?

  7. G.A. says:

Dude!!! you can’t be hanging >>>***BLACK***<<< people in effigy.

Yes, I think the Secret Service will be stopping by Pastor Jones’s abode very soon.

    I sure hope so…

I’m a bit confused by having both the American and gay pride flags. I’d figure a guy like this is all pro-American and anti-gay. But displaying both … is he for both? Or against both?

I know, I know, I’m trying to understand the crazy here.

    @Tsar Nicholas:
Your screen name is Tsar which is similar to Czar which is a position associated within Russia that imposes absolute will. We are in America where men fought and died for freedom of religion and freedom of speech and the rights of people to be safe and secure in their property. I see no reason why Pastor Jones should be institutionalized. On the contrary your thinking leads eventually to you being institutionalized because of your beliefs, should the right people gain power.

It does not matter what we think of Jones because we are not Czars. In addition to that Jones has not hurt anyone. He does not represent a religion that flies airliners into skyscrapers.

  10. @WordsPerMinute: You’re an idiot.

Ya I don’t like it at all, but hanging a BLACK persons image lol….Hell I think hate crime laws are biased and redundant and can be used to silence religious speech, some even being created to do just that…but not this time.

I hope they charge this fake Christian cult leader with one.

Reminded me of this sketch by the ‘whitest kids u know’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEQOvyGbBtY. Im definitely no obama fan, but this deserves whatever condemnation it gets. The guy obviously has some loose screws, and is desperate for attention. In my mind this isn’t an effective way to oppose the administration, and his crude actions only reflects badly on people involuntarily associated with you. As a libertarian and a fan of the likes of Mises, Rothbard, and Hayek, I’m increasingly wary of certain elements in the popular conservative movement. I wonder if there will be any place left for levelheaded pro free market individuals in the future.
