MEAN ADS IN RECALL

Say it ain’t so: California recall takes nasty turn. Of course, I’m not sure how else one would do this. Something like,

Gray Davis is a swell governor and it would sure be a shame to recall him. And my opponents are are geniuses with the highest moral integrity and genuinely great programs that would make the state of California much better instantaneously.

Actually, that line might just work, if Ahnold could keep a straight face through the delivery. The sarcasm would be obvious, yet would retain a degree of plausible deniability. Best of all, there would be no way for Davis & Co. to attack it for negativity, without effectively coming out and saying “Oh, of course he was being sarcastic. Everyone knows I’m sucha crappy governor that Arnold couldn’t possibly have been sincere in stating that it would be a shame to recall me.”
