Florida Today‘s Jeff Parker offers this take on President Obama’s Afghanistan “drawdown,” which will culminate in getting American forces down to Bush era levels by the end of 2012.

In addition to the cartoon, Parker offers this commentary:

President Obama’s speech on Wednesday night set the course for our troops to withdraw from Afghanistan. Welcomed news, IMO. Trouble is, the plan takes SO LONG. It’s like an endless winding road with little direction.

If the Afghans aren’t ready to take over their own security after all the blood and money the U.S. has spent there for ten years, well, it’s pretty apparent they’ll never be ready.

There’s nothing more we can do in Afghanistan. Let’s speed up the process somewhat, and bring home ALL of our personnel — plus the $2 billion a week in costs as well.
