Meh. Strait’s a wonderful neo-classic country singer, but he doesn’t always get the best songs to sing. I guess they don’t write ’em like “She Thinks I Still Care” or “The Bottle Let Me Down” anymore.
Always liked “Amarillo By Morning”, as well as this one (from Austin City Limits, 1985).
I’d agree this isn’t one of the best songs Strait has had to work with. Perhaps the best title for a Strait song ever, though, goes to “Every Time You Throw Dirt on Her (You Lose a Little Ground).”
