OTB STATUS

Well, the cats and I are now in the new townhouse and officially online using my wireless connection. I’ve been at the move since around 6 this morning and this is the first time I’ve had the computer on or, indeed, plugged in today. I’ll likely do some light blogging after I’ve had a shower and something to eat.

This was easily the worst move I’ve ever made–from a three-story townhouse to another three-story townhouse is the pits. I had professional movers to help me bring the big stuff and it still took eight hours. On top of that, the center pieces of my armoires couldn’t be manuevered up the steps. I’ve had bad moves into apartments, but one would think a three-bedroom house would be designed to accomodate getting grown-up furniture into the bedrooms.

Talking about grown up furniture, where I live in Vermont the mattress stores all carry split boxsprings because the stairways of 70 year old houses were not designed with the dimensions of a queen size mattresses.

And of course I found this out when the movers tried to get my bed into my rental house and the clearance was an inch less than needed.

Funny. I have a king sized bed but, fortunately, it came with spilt box springs. The mattress is a real pain to get up stairs but, unlike my armoirs, is somewhat flexible.

Moving is a pain no matter how well planned. Congrats on getting in at all! 😆
