Blogger Balko Bags Dodgy Doctor

Congratulations to Radley Balko, whose dogged reporting on miscarriages of justice in Mississippi has led to the dismissal of the state’s most prolific medical examiner, Dr. Steven Hayne. Hayne’s bogus medical reports led to a capital murder conviction for Cory Maye, a man wrongly subjected to a no-knock drug raid by police, and quite possibly many other innocent men sitting in prison at Parchman.

  1. Steve Plunk says:

Balko deserves the title of hero for his work. It is likely his work will contribute to the actual saving of lives. Something to be proud of.

  2. Bruce Moomaw says:

Odd; Patterico’s raised hell about him in the recent past for his supposedly disgusting dishonest bias in favor of defendants.

  3. Pam says:

Hayne is a quack and a fraud and has been exposed for what he is, thanks to Radley Balko and The Innocence Project. Hayne is not only responsible for innocent adults being convicted but children as well. I can name two children who have missed their entire high school years being locked up in maximum security prison since Middle School for something neither one did due to fraudulent and bogus testimony by Quack Hayne who lied repeatedly about his credentials and was never questioned by judges, prosecutors or defense attornies. Apparently everyone was too afraid or was benefiting from his gig. Thank God there are still good people in the world willing to fight for what is right and who are not afraid.
