Progress in WI Recall Process
Via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Campaign to recall Wirch says it has enough signatures:
The head of the campaign to recall Sen. Robert Wirch (D-Pleasant Prairie) says the group has gathered enough signatures to force a recall election.
Once the signatures are filed, this would mark the second recall campaign to achieved this benchmark:
The group seeking to recall Sen. Dan Kapanke (R-La Crosse) is the only one of 16 recall campaigns against eight Republican and eight Democratic state senators that has filed its signatures with the state. About 21,700 signatures were filed Friday, well over the 15,588 needed to force an election.
It will be interesting to see what the two parties say about a recall process in the wake of the election, especially if the Republicans are defeated. I don’t remember the GOP complaining about recalls when the governor of California was recalled, but I suspect that attitude may change.
Ah the wonderful recall of Grey Davis in CA. Schwarzenegger was going to lower taxes but still eliminate the deficit. Davis had to go. In the event, Schwarzenegger was Davis with an “R” and bigger biceps.
Not true. Davis was a lousy governor, but he had the guts to let the vehicle registration fee rise to keep the state out of bankruptcy. Arnold was another tax cut fanatic.
@Jack – Scott Walker doesn’t complain about recalls either; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45EiHHAuzW4
Randy Hopper is also supposedly in the same boat Wirch is. He’s also had an affair with an aide come to light in the midst of this, which won’t help.
