REPUBLICAN GUARD TARGETED: AP: Allies Target Elite Force Near Baghdad. Coalition planes targeted Republican Guard forces just south of Baghdad on Monday in perhaps the largest assault to date on Saddam Hussein’s highly trained troops, U.S. officials said.
