Ricky Skaggs Tour Bus Kills Man

A man was killed last night when he was hit by Ricky Skaggs’ tour bus.

A tour bus carrying bluegrass artist Ricky Skaggs from a performance at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival struck and killed a man Friday night, authorities said. The bus was traveling south on Interstate 24 about a mile from the exit for the festival when the man stepped onto the highway, said Melissa McDonald, spokeswoman for the Tennessee Department of Safety. His identity was not released, pending notification of his family.

McDonald said it was unknown if the man had been attending the four-day festival, but his identification showed he was not from Tennessee. It appeared the man jumped over a fence to reach the highway, she said. The accident is still under investigation. There was no indication of alcohol use by either the bus driver or the victim, McDonald said.

Obviously, sad news for all concerned. But what would possess a man to jump over a fence onto a major interstate highway?

Were levity appropriate in this situation, several Skaggs tunes, including “Two Highways,” “Highway 40 Blues,” “Casting My Shadow in the Road,” and “A Wound Time Can’t Erase” would spring to mind.

And, were levity appopriate, I would suggest “to get to the other side”

The man suffered the penalty for being too stupid to live. It’s a good thing that the careless get killed on occasion in that it reduces the stupid population by at least one.

Though I think we would do a better job of dissuading freeway crossers if we left the bodies out there, and let drivers run over them repeatedly. And not just the fatalities, but the injured as well. A fellow sees somebody screaming in extreme pain as cars, busses, and trucks treat him as an inconvenient speed bump, he’s more apt to think twice about venturing out on the roadway. If he doesn’t, then he bloody well deserves what he gets.

Alan Kellogg is correct. Besides, the dork HAD to be a Leftie. Of course he was going to the Skaggs concert…who else would be running across the freeway naked but a stoned out Leftie, ZONKED out on illegal drugs etc.

Wasn’t Skaggs the nephew of Woody Guthrie, a known Communist?

Alan, would you characterize that comment as “a modest proposal?” 😉
