St. Pete Times’s Rove/Satan Story

Karl Rove Satan The St. Petersburg Times had a joke news account somehow make it on to their live website. It read, in part, “Karl Rove said that he would be plotting the Republican Party’s fall election strategy with his longtime comrade-in-arms, Satan.” The original is now gone but Hotline On Call has preserved it for posterity.

via GOP email with subject line “Somebody is fired over at the St. Petersburg Times.” One hopes not. Creative outlet is a good thing for journalists, and pretty much anyone else, to engage in. They just ought to be a little more careful about where they post their efforts.

Note: Owing to the vagaries of WordPress, you’ll have to click the image a second time on the jump page to get the full-sized version.

UPDATE:
Wonk reports the parody came “from the Borowitz report.” So, it’s not even home-grown. Very disappointing.
