STANDARDIZED TESTS

Today’s Washington Post breaks the shocking news that there may be some inconsistency between teachers and schools in how students are graded. Furthermore, there seems to be a growing disparity between grades and standardized test scores. Anyone who has taught school at any level or had even a passing interest in education over roughly the last half century already knew that. Indeed, this is precisely why the SAT and other standardized tests were created–so that there can be one, um, standardized score for comparison.
