STRATEGIC DISCONNECT

STRATEGIC DISCONNECT: The collection of stories in WaPo this morning would seem to indicate some political wrangling and dodging on the war front. The lead story, “War’s Military, Political Goals Begin to Diverge” gives the impression of a major clash between Rumsfeld and the rest of theOffice of the Secretary of Defense and the combatant commanders. Television accounts and this piece claim that General Franks and his planners at CENTCOM devised the strategy with little resistance from OSD. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
