Twelve Arrested from NWA Amsterdam Flight (Developing)

The story so far:

Two Dutch F-16 fighter jets escorted a Northwest Airlines flight bound for Mumbai, India, back to Amsterdam after several passengers aroused concern Wednesday, according to Dutch and U.S. authorities. Dutch authorities have detained 12 passengers, according to the Transportation Security Administration in Washington.

Flight 42 returned to Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport after “a couple of passengers displayed behavior of concern,” according to Northwest Airlines. It is not clear what behavior sparked the response.

[…]

A team of U.S. federal air marshals was on board Wednesday’s flight and, along with the crew members, observed suspicious activity shortly after take-off, according to an unnamed U.S. government official. The official would not elaborate on the nature of the activity.

Not much to go on.

Amsterdam? I thought NWA only flew out of Compton…

  2. DC Loser says:

Wasn’t the next Harold and Kumar movie supposed to be in Amsterdam?

  3. Michael says:

Arrested or detained? The article summary says detained, which I would expect to happen during any incident.

Also, did anyone else notice that the top google ad on the sidebar was for Northwestern Airlines? Probably not the kind of page where that ad will bring in customers….

  4. Triumph says:

The marshals should have “detained” them by opening the airplane door in mid-flight and pushing the terrorists out. It is a much more simple response.

Triumph: Good plan! It’s a little tough to take back when the Marshalls have to say, “Oops, never mind,” though. But what the hell, we can just give the wogs’ families a bit of cash and then they’ll be happy, right?

You seem to be jumping to conclusions from 37,000 feet yourself.
