House Ethics Committee Opens Investigation Into Two Congressmen

Rob Andrews and Don Young may come from different parties, but they have one thing in common:

The House Ethics Committee plans to launch formal investigations of Rep. Rob Andrews (D-N.J.) and Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), continuing long-simmering accusations against both lawmakers.

Andrews faces allegations that he violated House rules and federal law by using campaign funds to pay for personal trips to Scotland and Los Angeles and by using a graduation party for his daughter to raise campaign cash.

Young has faced years of accusations surrounding donations made to a legal defense fund — but Tuesday’s announcement appeared to signal new charges are under review.

Should be interesting to see how these develop.

Hmmm… did any of these allegations come from The Daily Caller?

  2. Tony W says:

He he, you opened yourself to a “both sides do it” type of snark here Doug – however in this case, well justified!

  3. OzarkHillbilly says:

@Tony W: Well, nobody ever said corruption was a wholly owned tactic of one party or the other.

Wait a minute, I take that back. Some blind partisans do say that. I am pretty partisan, but even I ain’t that stupid.

  4. Dave Schuler says:

433 to go (432 if you discount Jesse Jackson, Jr. who just pled guilty to misusing campaign funds).

Even-steven, I like that. It smells like bipartisanship in the morning.
