NYC Landmark Commission Rejects Effort To Halt “Ground Zero” Mosque Project
It would appear that the legal effort to stop the so-called “Ground Zero” Mosque project is at an end:
The Landmarks Preservation Commission gave the thumbs down this morning to giving a lower Manhattan building historic status — paving the way for a controversial new mosque to open just blocks from Ground Zero.
The vote opens the door for the demolition of the 152-year-old building on Park Place, where construction is planned for the mosque.
The legal battle may be over, but I doubt the demagoguery is.
A preservation commission that couldn’t find a justification for preserving a building. An anti-religious discrimination organization that came out in favor of religious discrimination. Interesting times.
If I ever planned to visit New York City, that plan ended.
Somehow, I think NYC will survive that, Zels.
BTW, I can just hear Rudy’s screams now about all this, you know, desecration. Wonder how he feels about all the titty bars down there on that sacred ground?
