Sharron Angle To Hispanic Students: Some Of You Look Asian To Me
In case you thought the last two weeks of the Nevada Senate race would be gaffe-free, feast on this excerpt of a conversation Sharron Angle had with a classroom of mostly Hispanic High School students:
“So that’s what we want is a secure and sovereign nation and, you know, I don’t know that all of you are Latino. Some of you look a little more Asian to me. I don’t know that. [Note: it’s the Hispanic Student Union. The whole room is Hispanic teenagers.] What we know, what we know about ourselves is that we are a melting pot in this country. My grandchildren are evidence of that. I’m evidence of that. I’ve been called the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly.”
Video:
As for that last part about Angle being the “first Asian legislator” in the Nevada State Assembly, I have no idea what she’s talking about.
I find the entire clip to be a odd,.

Heh. Ehhh…Reminded me, for some reason, of this joke.
Israeli businessman finds himself in small industrial city in a remote part of China for Yom Kippur. After much searching, he is driven to Temple Feng Hui for the services. Of course, the congregation is completely Chinese and the service is in Chinese accented Hebrew, but accurate and complete as could be. After the service, he goes up the Chinese Rabbi, and says, “Sir, I’ve been to High Holy Day services all over the world and just want you to know that your’s was one of the finest I’ve ever attended.” The Rabbi looks at him closely and says, “Oh, you’re Jewish? You don’t look Jewish.”

Good one. It’s the only way to respond to this woman’s idiocy isn’t it? Humor.
Actually, she’s not far from the truth, probably spot on! If you look at historical migration patterns (a long long lomg way back) we see that Asians crossed the land bridge bewteen Asia and North America and migrated South all the way into South America. Many “Hispanics” do have physical traits we normally call Asian. Anyway, Hispanic refers to Hispania (Spain), that in itself only bears a small portion of the truth.
> I’ve been called the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly.”
Well, I am sticking with calling her a moron, but thats just me.
