Christine O’Donnell Invited, Then Dumped, From Iowa Tea Party Rally

Christine O’Donnell learned today that her 15 minutes of Tea Party fame are officially over:

Former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell will not speak at a tea party event featuring former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in Indianola, Iowa, this weekend, an organizer told Washington Wire.

“I made a mistake,” said Ken Crow, president of Tea Party of America. “I assumed there was an open slot and there wasn’t.”

Monday night, Mr. Crow told Washington Wire that Ms. O’Donnell would appear.

Tea Party of America’s cofounder, Charlie Gruschow, said the group withdrew Ms. O’Donnell’s after receiving numerous “emails from a lot of tea party folks that were very disappointed that she would be speaking.”

“We decided not to have her speak,” Mr. Gruschow said. “We felt it was in the best interest of the movement.”

Time to pack it in, Christine.

But she has a book deal…

    /lol

  2. Jay says:

You know, I never particularly cared for Mike Castle, but the fact that the Tea Party just had to go with such an obviously superficial self-seeker as O’Donnell last year against him hurt the movement’s credibiity. They finally seem to have realized that. Good move on their part.

  3. Fiona says:

She’s too much of a flake for even the Tea Partiers. Wow! Now if only Sarah Palin would follow her into oblivion.

  4. PJ says:

Christine O’Donnell still got $654,336 of campaign funds to live off. Now, it would seem, considering her position, that she’s never going to run again, and considering the current economic climate for a lot people, it would be great if she could give it back to the original donors. But then those donors may give that money to other republicans, so, well, I’m all for her keeping it. She needs to pay her rent…

  5. A voice from another precinct says:

@Fiona: Too flaky for the Tea Party? Now that’s saying something! On the other hand, I’m sorry to see her go; I think she’s much cuter and more adorable than either Sarah or Michele.

  6. Anonne says:

Can’t say that I’m shedding tears. But you bet your bottom dollar that this dummy will run again. Running for office is apparently a good living.

She’s re-invited! But now Sarah’s not coming! Maybe!

Anyone else reminded of the politics of high school cliques?
