Joe Miller In His Own Words

There’s been a lot of talk about Joe Miller in the week or so since the Alaska primary, but I would hazard to guess that most people outside Alaska don’t know much about him. So, here he is yesterday on Face The Nation:

Judging from this interview, Miller strikes me as a fairly conventional Tea Party conservative. Certainly not a bomb-thrower like Sharron Angle. So, it seems like he’d be fairly assured of victory in a one-on-one race against the Democratic nominee, although it should be noted that his comments in the interview that perhaps Alaska needs to be less dependent on the Federal Government are already getting attention up in The Last Frontier.

Is there any precedent for transferring federal lands/rights to states? On the one hand, it seems odd that the federal government owns much of the state. On the other hand, those lands were purchased/developed with federal dollars, and belong to whole country.

‘bomb-thrower’ like Sharron Angle?  First, that is not true but even if it were, If she is a bomb thrower, what does that make Harry Reid?  A one man, job-killing Terminator sounds about right.  Hmmmm, maybe I am being too mild, change out ‘Terminator’ with ‘WMD.’
    There, that sounds more accurate.

Oh really?  In her own words…

“You know, our Founding Fathers, they put that Second Amendment in there for a good reason and that was for the people to protect themselves against a tyrannical government. And in fact, you know, Thomas Jefferson said it’s good for a country to have a revolution every 20 years.
I hope that’s not where we’re going, but, you know, if this, this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies, they’re saying my goodness what can we do to turn this country around? And I’ll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out.”

You have a very interesting definition of the truth…

In that vein them, I’m glad to see that you agree with Beck, Hannity and others that Obama wants to use ObamaCare to redistribute wealth in the country.  After all, he stated during his radio interview that the Constitution lacked “positive” measures that dealt with reparations.

If you’re going to extrapolate speech and words by stating that Angle is a “bomb thrower” , then you can now see once and for all how Obama has a Socialist governing philosophy.  Glad to see you’ve come over to Beck’s side of the fence.

By the way, if you lack knowledge, I’ll be happy to provide you with Obama’s exact words during the interview…

I don’t know, but there is precedent for the states simply taking them back, at least temporarily.  During the Clinton administration, although it was hushed up, several states literally took over control of federal lands.  This happened shortly after the Ruby Ridge and Waco fiascos, when states were at least temporarily fed up with the high-handed actions of the federal government. They even went so far as to arrest federal agents (Dept. of Interior, Fish and Game, etc.) who tried to block public use of the federal lands.  Gates were torn down to open up roads and access and the public could use the land as they saw fit.
