Stupid Things Congresscritters Say

Ladies and gentlemen, Congresswoman Shelia Jackson-Lee:

Houston Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, in a speech on the House floor, talked about “two Vietnams” today “living side by side.”

“I stand here asking us to do what we did not in do in Vietnam, was to recognize the valiant and outstanding service of our men and women,” she told her colleagues in a one-minute speech, “and to recognize that victory had been achieved.

“Today, we have two Vietnams, side by side, north and south. exchanging and working.

“We may not agree with all that North Vietnam is doing but they are living in peace. I would look for a better human rights record for North Vietnam, but they are living side by side.”

I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised. This is the same woman who once asked if the Mars Pathfinder would be able to locate the flag that Neil Armstrong planted on Mars.
