Jim DeMint Joins CPAC Boycott
Apparently motivated by the boycott led by social conservative groups for the decision to invite a gay conservative group, Senator Jim DeMint will not be attending this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference:
South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint will skip this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference, making him the most prominent conservative figure yet to express objections to what critics see as a pro-gay, libertarian tilt to the 38-year old event.
“With leading conservatives organizations not participating this year, Senator DeMint will not be attending. He hopes to attend a unified CPAC next year,” DeMint spokesman Wesley Denton said in an email.
Of course, this is the same Jim DeMint who said that one could not be a fiscal conservative without being a social conservative and who once said that gays and single women should not be allowed to teach in public schools.
damn! I was going to boycott CPAC this year too! Now I might HAVE to go….

Again, someone needs to ask Jim DeMint what he thinks about unmarried heterosexual men who are having sex out of wedlock being in teaching jobs. I find it odd that his rant on the sexually-active unmarried teacher front seemed to focus solely on women.

It’s always been a fragile coalition and for years it was kept together mainly through lip service to the social conservatives but it appears they may have finally woke up and realized they’ve been herded like sheep.
