Birther Interrupts Reading Of Constitution During Presidential Eligibility Section

Well this isn’t really a surprise:

A woman was arrested in the House gallery Thursday after interrupting a reading of the Constitution by yelling out her belief that President Barack Obama is not a natural born citizen of the United States.

When Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) read the part of Article II, Section 1 mandating that only a “natural-born citizen” may be president, the woman, seated in the front row of the public gallery, screamed “Except Obama, except Obama. Help us Jesus.”

An officer removed her from the gallery as she yelled out “My name is Theresa.”

According to David Weigel, the woman’s involved is a long time birther activist:

I’m told that the woman who made the disruption was Theresa Cao, a birther activist and supporter of court-martialed birther Lt. Col. Terry Lakin. On December 16, she told WorldNetDaily that she was “taking his message to the White House and Congress.” She maintains a blog here

Awww, the Republican dog and pony show was interrupted by a right-wing crazy?

    An omen.

  2. Linda says:

I truly wish the birthers would get off that merry-go-round. It is long past tedious. And only serves to make them look idiotic.

  3. Ernieyeball says:

Jesus was not a natural born citizen of the United States. Jesus was not even a naturalized citizen. How can he help?

I’d given 50-50 odds she was a moonbat, out to make the right look stupid. Oh, well…

God, won’t these dipshits just go away?

    Of course you did.

God, won’t these dipshits just go away?

Well, like you, they have serious questions about what the president is hiding. Won’t you just go away?

  6. MM says:

Well, she can’t be an overzealous staffer, so clearly Jay Tea is stuck with “liberal plant!”

  7. Ernieyeball says:

If this is what it takes to make the right look stupid she is in a tent with a few more moon bats like Bill O’Riley. Religion explains tides. Christine McDonald, I am not a witch. Sarah Palin, I can’t name a newspaper I read. The entire Texas School Textbook Pickers. My neighbor Rep. John Shimkus. God told Noah no more floods so climate change can not be a threat…

Mantis, here Jay tea (whom I hardly ever agree with) says something which by all rights you should agree with, and you go out of your way to insult him…

    WTF…

  9. An Interested Party says:

@Ernieyeball: Maybe they’re all liberal plants….the pockets of George Soros are quite deep, after all…

  10. mantis says:

    tom p,

You’re missing a bit of background tom. Jay talks out of both sides of his mouth.

  12. john personna says:

I strongly suspect she is a double secret plant – yes, a conservative operator pretending to be a liberal pretening to be a conservative.

  13. Jay Tea says:

No, mantis, I’ve been mocking and kicking around the birthers since they first came on my radar. What you call “talking out of both sides of my mouth” is that I believe that the birthers serve as useful idiots for Obama and his supporters, and they (Obama et al) have an interest in keeping them front and center — which is yet another reason I want them (the birthers) to go away.

In my initial comment, I implied — but didn’t say explicitly — what I meant. When I first heard about the nutjob in the gallery, I predicted that it was just as likely to be a liberal plant as it was to be a genuine birther nutjob. As I implied, I was disappointed that it was a genuine nut — but there have been plenty of plants at Tea Party events, and the disruption was very much in line with stunts pulled by leftists like Code Pink.

Coulda been. Wasn’t. Either way, the nutjob was shut up and hauled off. Good riddance.

    John Per…

There is also the possibility of a triple secret plant. Clearly, JT has ferreted out our classified plan to keep birthers front and center.

  15. Jay Tea says:

Nah, anjin. You’re simply not that smart. Look how quickly the Tea Party roots out the Agents Provocateurs at its rallies, and makes certain they’re properly labeled. I’m rather fond of the big “WE’RE NOT WITH STUPID” signs.

This particular nut was a true-blue Birther. She’d spent too much energy establishing her bona fides before pulling her dumbass stunt at the Capitol. Your side just doesn’t have the energy or forethought to pull off that kind of stunt.

I appreciate the consideration, but I just can’t accept it.

no no no, if robert downey could only go three levels deep that must be the limit

(though, check her to make sure she is not robert downey)

No, that’s not it. It’s your willingness to believe and repeat birther “facts” that are anything but. You find their bullshit useful in attacking Obama, and don’t care if it’s bullshit, you just aren’t willing to go all the way with them. As I pointed out on this thread, you’re the same as the people who repeat 911 truther idiocy while saying, “Oh, these people are crazy, but they do raise a number of good points…”

If you really disagreed with these people and wanted them to go away, you wouldn’t traffic in their lies. You wouldn’t repeat the “Obama has spent $2 million to hide his records” crap, which the birthers just made up. You wouldn’t state that the president is “keeping his records locked up,” when you know full well that the only birth record the State of Hawaii issues to citizens is the one released by then Senator Obama’s campaign.

That’s how you talk out both sides of your mouth. And that’s why no amount of your making fun of crazy birthers matters. They are useful tools. Useful to you and your ilk in your quest to perpetuate the notion that the president is some sinister unknown, hiding his past. The fact that you don’t bother to follow that the conclusions of those less worried about appearing crazy (he’s a Manchurian Candidate, secret son of Malcolm X, etc.) makes little difference to me.

  18. mantis says:

Oops. Here’s the thread I reference.

  19. Jay Tea says:

mantis, the only birther “fact” I’ve ever come close to citing is how much Obama has spent keeping the issue alive. I don’t know the number, and don’t care. To get into that argument is not much different than getting into the legalistic fantasies the birthers construct to rationalize their crazy. I’ve banned at least one birther from Wizbang over that.

What is not disputable is that Obama has put at least some effort into keeping it going. And yes, I believe he’s doing it deliberately. But not to keep anything secret, but to keep the birthers fighting over it. Because it keeps the story alive, it keeps the birthers in the public eye, and lets him and his allies taint all of their opponents with the birthers’ crazy. Plus, it keeps the obsessive nutjobs focused on that, and not looking into more substantive matters.

And I don’t blame him. It’s sound political strategy. If I was his adviser, I’d be telling him to keep it up — and every now and then toss out a little red meat just to keep the nutjobs frothing.

Oh, and for the record, I am 99.44% convinced that Obama is legally entitled to serve as President of the United States — and that’s more than enough for me. I’m more troubled what grownup Obama does than what might have occurred around baby Barack.

    J.

  20. anjin-san says:

    > What is not disputable is that Obama has put at least some effort into keeping it going.

Really? Can you show even one concrete instance of him taking an action to keep this going?

BTW, you pretty much flushed any opportunity to be considered any kind of a reasonable person with your little rant about how Obama forced GM to make the Volt., since after all, a production model was on public display a month before he was elected.

It may make you feel good to look down on the birthers, but your rap is just as deranged as theirs is.
