    ‘I see things now that I’ve never seen before’: the Maricopa county attorney fighting false election claims

    Tom Liddy, a lifelong Republican, is a target of his own party for fending off lawsuits against the county over blatant election lies

    An interesting interview with the son of G. Gordon Liddy on what it’s like fighting the Qrazy. But he has this huge blind spot:

    I’ve been a Republican since long before I could vote. One of the proudest days of my life was my 18th birthday when I went and registered to vote. I’m a real Republican and I will not change. I will be when they bury me.

    Uh, Tom? I think it’s time you took a good hard look at what the GOP has become, tho really if this didn’t wake you up,

    Since then, I’ve been getting death threats. One of those death threats is very real, very specific. The Dallas field office of the FBI notified me of it. The FBI came in and met with my employer and my employer told me to arm myself and that the ammunition I had was not the correct ammunition. They issued me this [pulls out a box of bullets from a safe in his office] – that’s a hollow point. That’s a man-stopper. They issued me and my four children body armor, because this son of a bitch from Texas specifically threatened to kill my four children.

    WTF ever will?

    But that’s not how you want to live.

    He’s right, it’s not how I want to live, but it would appear he’s OK with it because he still supports the party who’s policies and politics led to this very tenuous moment in his life.

    @OzarkHillbilly:
    Yes, but if he remains a lawyer fending off fake election charges, it won’t do him any good to switch parties. He and his family will probably be in worse danger.

    @CSK: Who said anything about him becoming a DEM? As to his being in worse danger, I doubt it. The qrazies one and all already hate him with the heat of a thousand dying suns and the rest of the GOP have no use for free and fair elections or those who defend them.

    During his October deposition, Trump mistook a photo of E. Jean Carroll for his then-wife Marla Maples.

    @CSK: Interesting. Hasn’t his main defense been that he would never be attracted to a woman who looks like her?

    @OzarkHillbilly:
    You seemed to be suggesting that Liddy should switch parties, and the first and most logical choice would be Democratic, wouldn’t it? Apologies if I misunderstood you.

    @MarkedMan:
    Yes, it has. Which implies he thinks rape is okay if you’re attracted to the victim. Oh, well. Spoken like a true pussy-grabber.

  10. OzarkHillbilly says:

    @CSK: The first and most logical choice would be Independent. His political career in the GOP is all but dead. I don’t realistically see a place for him in the DEM party. He’s unlikely to be re-elected as an Independent but there is life after politics. Besides, it’s not like he’d be the only ex-Republican/never a DEM in the world.

    Myself, I’ve never pined for the company of zealots who want me dead. And as the saying goes, one is known by the company one keeps.

    As political scientist Steven Taylor says, “the institutions that shape our politics into only two parties [are] actually forcing a multiparty system into two boxes.”

    Trump, apparently irritated at suggestions he’s running a lackluster campaign, says he’ll be giving “a big political speech” at his Doral property in Miamai today.

    “Do not fear,” he adds. “MANY GIANT RALLIES and other events coming up soon. It will all be wild and exciting. We will save our Country from DOOM and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

  13. MarkedMan says:

    @CSK: I honestly wonder if he is unable to find rally organizers, not political hacks but actual event organizers. It was reported he stiffed a lot of vendors.

    He didn’t pay a lot of the municipalities for the use of the venues, either.

    It’s common for these people to, reluctantly, see the craziness their Party has become, but still say I could never be a Democrat. I always ask myself what these people see that so repels them about Democrats and what can we do about it. But I fear what we’d need to do is shut down FOX news. It isn’t Democrats who repel these people, it’s the caricature of Democrats they’ve been seeing all their lives. We’re the Party that grooms little kids and opposes self reliance and wants to take their stuff and give it to young bucks and spend all their money supporting BLM rioters. And as long as Rupert Murdoch, or his spawn Lachlan, lives, we can’t fix it.

    I can understand not wanting to join the Dems even if you end up hating the GOP. The Dems do a lot of, IMHO, stupid stuff. I can see that being annoying enough to not want to join up. I just dont understand willing to put up with the GOP as bad as it is now. So going independent and actually voting for Democrats makes a lot of sense for a lot of people.

    Parsing the announcement of the inconclusive investigation on who leaked Dobbs, I think it really says, “We cannot possibly say Scalito did it.”

    Supreme Court could not identify who shared draft abortion opinion

    The internal probe zeroed in on 82 employees who had access to electronic or hard copies of the draft majority opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, but “was unable to identify a person responsible by a preponderance of the evidence,” the high court said.

    They did not say they couldn’t identify the perpetrator but rather they couldn’t identify to the legal standard of “preponderance of the evidence”. Who says it has to meet that standard for fingering the culprit? Yeah, a coverup.

    You know the day’s gonna suck when you have a big task waiting for you, and on the drive to the office someone messages with one more. Then while you’re trying to juggle both, some absentee manager dumps a third.

    And when, somehow, you’re mostly done by 3 pm anyway, they’re all left with the idea that you can easily handle such things.

  25. Kathy says:

    Weird fact of the day: special relativity states every object in the universe, including you, is always moving at exactly the speed of light, and cannot move at any other speed.

    Now, this is movement through spacetime, not through space. This means the lower your speed in space, the faster your speed in time. The opposite is also true.

    Therefore the ultimate truth of life, the universe, and everything is: whenever you’re going nowhere fast, so is everything else.

    MANY GIANT RALLIES

    A coworker and I stopped off at a bar after work, and there was something deeply weird about the place, but we couldn’t place it and random people kept trying to talk to us. It turns out it was a meetup for people over 6 feet tall and since we were each well over 6 feet, all the 6′ 0.25″ people who would go to such a thing just looked like slightly less short people.

    But, to a normal person, it probably looked like a GIANT RALLY.

    (As the tallest people, we obviously became their leaders and were able to get them to perform crimes for us, but that’s a story for another day.)
