UPDATE: The Frisch Fiasco

Jeff Goldstein has responded to the Inside Higher Ed piece which attempts to summarize (quite poorly, I might add) what happened this weekend between himself and Deb Frisch. Goldstein also provides evidence for the skeptics that he in no way altered Frisch’s comments and fires back at her groupies, warning that “those sites who are repeating her libels should probably reconsider and issue corrections. Because up until now, I haven’t really been pissed. But that’s beginning to change.”

Oh gosh, let me go post on my blog how that’s going to make my cry … or, wait, actually not.

But since you’re here, a line from Fred Kaplan’s article on the new Army counterinsurgency manual made me think of OTB’s fierce brigade of amoral commenters:

Lose moral legitimacy, lose the war,” the authors warn, pointedly noting that the French lost Algeria in part because their commanders condoned torture.

But, hey, what do LTGEN Petraeus and (retired) Col. Crane know?

He might get pissed? I guess that means more unfortunate threats of “Goldstein cock slapping.”

  6. Steve Verdon says:

    Anderson,

While Goldstein might be jerk–I don’t know, I hardly read his stuff, Frisch is a complete psycho IMO. When she infested my blog for awhile I went really carefully around her (i.e. I was very polite to her). I got the distinct feeling she could go complete psycho on a seconds notice. She seemed real interested in where I worked, what my degree was in, was I married, etc. She is a despicable character.

I hope you never have somebody like that on your blog. Honestly.

  7. Anderson says:

Hey, no argument there, Steve. She’s evidently quite a freak. But then, so is Goldstein (cf. jpe’s allusion to Goldstein’s “cock-slapping” penchant; there are doubtless Worst-of-Goldstein lists to be googled).

So “jerk attacks jerk” was actually a polite understatement on my part.
