BUT WHAT ABOUT THE POPULAR VOTE?

Steven Taylor notes that,

Currently the Flu only has 216 of the 270 requisite votes to be the next President of the United States.

I would note, however, that the yellow-white map produced by the CDC is distorted. As Brad DeLong would say, we really need an ecru map showing the degree of infectedness. Indeed, the Taylor household was very pro-Flu even though Alabama overall went into the anti-Flu column.

The Flu would almost certainly, however, lose the popular vote by a wide margin.
