Mark Foley Endorses Obama

File this one in the Endorsements You’d Rather Not Have category:  Variety reports that disgraced former Republican Congressman and sender of solicitors of underage boys for sex Mark Foley is backing Barack Obama for president.

Let’s just say I don’t believe Team Obama will be touting this one as loudly as the Powell endorsement.

UPDATE:
Several commenters say Foley has denied this report. I’m not seeing anything in Google News aside from a statement Newsbusters has printed: “The story on Variety’s website, based on a second or third-hand account of my private conversation, is incorrect. I have already voted by absentee ballot in Florida. Although I didn’t vote for Senator Obama, I intend to keep my choice private.”

Meh, could have been an endorsement from Tim Mahoney…so there’s that.

  3. DMan says:

Foley must support Obama’s sex education policy.

  4. just me says:

This is funny-I am sure Obama won’t be including this one on any of his campaign literature either.

I can’t help but wonder why Foley felt the need to endorse anyone though. Does anyone really care what Foley thinks at this point?

  5. Spoker says:

This must be true. Foley directly denies it. The MSM reports that Foley denies it. Variety, that paragon of political correctness reported it. Yep, it must be true.

Take that one to the bank and see how much it changes the polls.

  7. Bithead says:

    Actually, no, Foley didn’t.
He released a statement this afternoon, saying is was NOT true, and that he’d already voted… but not for Obama. Interestingly, he wouldn’t say who it was he’d voted FOR…

    Mr Joyner
Are you proud of being played by the Republicans on a demonstrably false story?

  9. Bithead says:

    Played by whom, again?
