The HostingMatters blogs, including mine, were intermittently unavailable for much of the morning owing to an announced move of their equipment into a new cage. I had misread their message– thinking that the move was to occur at 10 p.m. rather than 10 a.m.–since it never occured to me they’d intentionally shut down during the day. In any event, the downtime was supposed to be less than 20 minutes.

  1. We were down for about… 20 minutes. And they did announce it every which way they could.

Interesting. Mine was down for quite a while–as was InstaPundit and PoliBlog, the ones I usually check to see if it’s a systemwide issue. And, yes, I got the announcements but just somehow read them as happening at 10 pm rather than 10 am.

While a planned shutdown during a time when most people are likely to be awake is mildly annoying, I was just posting an explanation for why the site was down.
