Thanks Steven, for the reminder that there is a lot out there that is worth noticing.

Are you in Vietnam Nam? Beautiful country. I was there with my family over New Years once, and did a few things I never expected such as sled down sand dunes and ride an ostrich (or at least the other, smaller, members of my family did)… All day long we would watch the local fishermen bring the best of their catch to the restaurants on the beach, and then in the evening we would stroll down, take a look at what was swimming in the concrete fish pools, point out what we wanted and then point to a picture depicting how we wanted it cooked.

Wow! Thanks for the picture, Steven. This brings back some memories, but how things have changed! In 1968 we Marines called this S**t Beach, because the citizens would simply drop trou and defecate in plain view. You walked on the beach at your peril.

  4. @al Ameda: Thanks!

@MarkedMan: I am here on a business trip and head to Hanoi this morning. The food is fantastic.

@a country lawyer: I was thinking about the history of the place–a remarkable transformation. It is now lined with resorts and hotels.
