The costumes are silly, but then again most all costumes are silly. Judging your reason for finding it hysterically funny is not something I am willing to do, so instead I simply ask: why is it so funny?
Just trying to help you out. Obviously there’s a reason you singled out that group for ridicule. Perhaps unfamiliarity with gay culture (which has been holding flamboyant pride celebrations for DECADES now) and a sense of unease about how it that culture is gaining mainstream acceptance–i.e., homophobia–is the reason you feel compelled to ridicule the culture.
Not saying it is. Just throwing that possibility out there.
Also, I’m not disagreeing with you. Drag queens ARE funny. They’re supposed to be.
Thanks for the explanation. It was much as thought it might be, though to be honest, costumes, in all there splendid silliness, just have never appealed to me very much. Then again, I can’t say I care for clowns (political or entertainment) all that much either.
Maybe because you’re a homophobe?
Wild guess.
I think I’d find a bunch of heterosexual men running around half naked, wearing feathered hats, or dressed as women fairly amusing, too.
