GoogleNews: Hamas new chief hints not to assume spiritual leader

Hamas new leader Khaled Meshaal said here on Wednesday night that Hamas does not change after the assassination of its founder Sheik Ahmed Yassin, indicating that he will not assume the responsibility of a spiritual leader.

“Yassin’s unique spiritual power had been established during decades of resistance, which can not be inherited by anyone else,”he said after attending a mourning activity in a Palestinian refugee camp near Damascus.

Meshaal added that his position has not changed either, being apolitburo chief, in the past and now, inside and outside the occupied Palestinian land.

He said the function of his bureau is political while the military wing of Hamas is engaged in resisting Israel on the occupied land.

Well, so long as he’s just political and not head of a terrorist organization that’s killed hundreds or anything.
