Support pours in for singer Kylie (BBC)

Friends and fans have been offering words of support to singer Kylie Minogue, 37, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Minogue has been forced to postpone the Australian leg of her world tour to begin immediate treatment. Record producer Pete Waterman, who helped launch her pop career, was quick to send his “very best wishes” to her during “this difficult time”. Sir Elton John sent a message of love, wishing Minogue a “speedy recovery”.

It was announced on Tuesday that Minogue had been diagnosed with breast cancer, which is in its early stages.

Minogue rose to fame in the 1980s as an actress in the popular soap opera Neighbours and later launched a pop career which has spawned 37 hit singles in the UK.

As best I can gather, Minogue is famous in the U.S. primarily for being attractive rather than for any of her hit singles. Indeed, I can’t think of one off the top of my head even though we’re contemporaries agewise.

She had a remake of Loco-motion in the late 80s or early 90s that first got her U.S. attention. She resurfaced a few years ago with a pretty big makeover and most of her music now would probably be called club or dance music. I don’t know the names of any of her recent songs either.

Most recent (club) hit I can think of is “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.” Came out a couple years back if I remember correctly.

That was a big hit and she was smoking hot in the video. Not a big fan of the genre but no denying the obvious.

    Dear Kylie,

Have faith in yourself, know that you have the power within you to heal yourself. Fear lowers the immune system and decreases your power. Picture yourself having achieved all your dreams and goals. Picture yourself as well, happy, vibrant. You are very special and an inspiration to millions around the world.

    God bless you.
