The Dilbert Blog: Cartoonist Kills Thousands

Scott Adams has done it again, needlessly causing death through poorly conceived cartoons.

Cartoonist Kills Thousands

Recently I killed thousands more people. I don̢۪t have exact numbers yet. The problem stems from my comic that ran on 11-20-05, implying that retail stores might harvest organs from bad customers and sell them on eBay. I̢۪ve received dozens of letters (long ones!) from very angry people who assure me that the Dilbert comic will reduce the number of organ donors. The concern is that people will think their parts will end up on eBay and so they won̢۪t be inspired to donate.

This would only have an impact on exceptionally dumb potential organ donors. But as you know, that̢۪s a large block of the general population.

Quite true.

I read that entry earlier today (I’m in France, so it’s evening here), and I thought it was laugh-out-loud funny.

I’m glad Scott Adams decided to start a blog. I’ve read and enjoyed his books, so for me it’s nice to get a daily fix of his humor.

  2. If people thought they could sell their organs on eBay and actually earn money, they’d probably be MORE likely to become donors.

I don’t think so beause most of the time you become a donor when you’re dead, so you won’t get the money …

Similar accusations have made about (e.g.) after a urinary incontinence incident at a local public pool — someone telephoned and claimed that people in the city died because they saw that. It’s a M. O. script.
