Iraq Quotes Blog

Jason Barnes has launched a new B*S blog called The Who Said It Game – Iraq Style. He describes it as,

A repository of quotes from prominent Democrats regarding pre-war intelligence on weapons of mass destruction in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq.

Sample quotes:

“Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime … He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation … And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction … So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ..”

John Kerry – November 9, 1997

and

“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members . It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.”

Hillary Clinton – October 10, 2002

Not exactly pithy but an interesting way of making a point that’s been stated repeatedly: There was simply no controversy that Saddam had a WMD program or, indeed, actually used WMD.

Jason is soliciting more quotes for the collection.

James, you are just perpetuating the big lie.

At the time in question there was absolutly no concrete evidence that Iraq had any WMD that could have been a threat to us. EVERYONE who was in a position to know what the facts actually were knew that to be true.

The CIA didn’t bother to contradict Bush because they knew it didn’t matter. Bush had made up his mind to go to war regardless of the facts and was misresenting the intellegence to convince the American people that Iraq was a threat.

Bush and his administration lied to us. Your trying to excuse Bush from accountability is contemptable.

  2. Anderson says:

Sigh. Of course there was no controversy, b/c the White House was massaging the evidence.

Where have y’all BEEN the last few years? Because in America, this subject’s been covered pretty thoroughly.

The list you cite is just imitating various Dem lists of lies & half-truths from Cheney et al.

  3. DL says:

What is facinating about this line of besmerchment from the lib-gressive gang is that they’re in effect admitting that the dumbest president ever, fooled the hell out of all of you. That really creates a great deal of reason to trust you guys with our National defense now doesn’t it?

Let’s see now, what is dumber than the dumbest?
    Dumb, dumber, dumbest, democrats!

  4. James Joyner says:

Well, the Kerry quote predates Bush’s candidacy for, let alone occupancy of, the White House.

In October 2002, Clinton was less than two years removed from being married to the sitting president of the United States, who said similar things.

  5. Mark says:

How can Bush have perpetuated the “big lie,” as Ken calls it, when the Kerry quote is from 1997? I don’t remember Bush being president back then. Unless he really was, and he just duped the country into thinking Bill Clinton was still the president…

  6. Herb says:

    Ken:

There is absoloutly no doubt that you could not see daylight if the sun were shining right in your face.

There is only one conclusion that anyone can make about you Ken, that is:

You are not only an ultra left wing loony, but you are a RADICAL extremist that is hell bent on destroying our country and everyone who lives here.

Your comments anr not only extremist, but are as irresponsible as you are.

May I suggest Ken that you don your turbin and go live where you fit in with the terrorists that you adore and praise

    DL-
    You’re really scraping bottom there…

Bush & Cheney (and you) are whining now about not getting the respect their offices deserve. Lemme tell ya – back during the run-up to the Iraq invasion, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al told everyone what the intel showed, and we believed them. We gave them the benefit of the doubt, and Congress (Rep and Dem alike), as well as our allies, believed that the administration was telling the truth.

It’s not about his being the “dumbest president ever” (great way to promote your own team there, btw), it’s about his being the most callow, pathetic, treasonous liar ever.

Like the song says, “won’t get fooled again”.

  8. Fred says:

Headline: Democrats call for immediate removal of US troops from Iraq – Democrats enjoy support from many other organizations on this issue. Some organizations that agree with Democrats and will also benefit from demonizing Bush on this and other issues are organizations such as Hezbollah, Al-qaida, Abu Nidal Organization, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, HAMAS, Islamic Jihad, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Al-Zarqawi, Al-Fatah ….. get the point? Democrats don’t seem to get it!

  9. Anderson says:

Anyone interested in an example of how the Iraq war was sold to the public should read this article by James Bamford. A perfect little example of how the con game was played. Even I hadn’t imagined it was this bad.

  10. Herb says:

    Fred:

Damned good comment, wish I would have said it. But Fred, The democrats as well as other “Hardheads” will not get i because they don’t want to get it. They only get what suits their political purpose to run our troops and our country into the ground. These guys are no doubt the biggest “Yellow Stripers” in our country and only show everyone their contempt with their irresponsibile and unproven remarks.

  11. LJD says:

The more you show the left the hypocrisy of their representatives, the louder they shout “Liar! Liar!”
