Viacom Drops Stewart

Viacom stations drop `Martha Stewart Living’ [otbblog/jamesotb]

“Martha Stewart Living,” Stewart’s hour-long daily syndicated lifestyle show, has been dropped by the Viacom station group, a CBS spokesman said Monday.

WBBM-Ch. 2, the Viacom-owned CBS station in Chicago, said Friday night’s broadcast of Stewart’s show was the station’s last. Channel 2 will replace the show by joining CBS News’ overnight newscast one hour earlier.

Considering that Stewart is likely going to prison, this seems like a rather unnecessary move.

    Well, not really.
    Lots in the can, yet.
Let’s say she’s in there for a year… they’ve got enough to keep her on hte air at least in terms of programming.

Viewers, OTOH, may be an issue.

Appeals sometimes a long long time … think back to Ali, he was found guilty of failure to submit to induction into the service or some such, but stayed out of jail until the SCOTUS eventually overturned his conviction. I still say that she needs to do a bit of real time though so she can gain the experience necessary to reemerge and become a Country & Western singin’ sensation.
