Good News from Iraq – One Step at a Time
Arthur Chrenkoff begins his periodic OpinionJournal Iraq good news roundup (also here and here) with,
“You can’t fix in six months what it took 35 years to destroy.” These words, spoken by Ibrahim al-Jaafari, Iraq’s first democratically elected Prime Minister in half a century, should be inscribed in 3-foot-tall characters as a preface to all the reporting from Iraq. Sadly, the underlying reality all too often seems to escape many reporters caught in the excitement of “now.”
True enough. Of course, it’s actually much harder than even that: Iraq wasn’t exactly an economically thriving democracy 35 years ago, either.
Too bad y’all didn’t level with the American people before the war took place. Maybe then we wouldn’t be in the position we’re in now.

Well said, Hal.
> Too bad yall didnt level with the American people
> before the war took place. Maybe then we wouldnt
> be in the position were in now.
When did a scumpublican ever tell the truth about anything significant? Not since before Nixon at the latest.
Who is y’all? al Jafaari? Surely he would not have been in a position to speak out about anything prior to the liberation. Or is this a lame partisan jab? Try reading the article linked above, showing some GOOD news from Iraq.
6 in 10 Americans wanting to reduce troop levels only shows that we want the Iraqis to take responsibility for their country. (As stated in the above referenced article). I would not extend that statistic to reference anything about support for the war.
Keep up the polarization, though. With the help of Howard Dean you could be seeing even more Republicans in office.
Boy, the spin-trolls are out in force. The news from Iraq must be good.
Yes, I hear it’s totally awesome. Plan your first vacation there now.
I just might. I’d avoid the Sunni triangle of course, but I don’t plan on including South Central L.A. in my next SoCal vacation either.
