GOP Committee Mocks Congressman For Seeking Marriage Counseling

The National Republican Campaign Committee, the campaign arm for House Republicans, recently mocked a Democratic Congressman for the fact that he and his wife sought marriage counseling:
National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) mocked Rep. Joe Cunningham (D-SC) and his wife this week with the fact that they sought marriage counseling, in a tweet that was snarking about impeachment. On Friday, Rep. Cunningham fired back.
The original NRCC tweet was sent Thursday, and though it generated a good deal of backlash, remains today unaltered and was not deleted.
After the backlash, the NRCC feed, most of which reads like any rando #MAGA troll, did not walk back, but instead mocked those who were offended. (They also posted another shot at Cunningham on Friday).
Rep. Cunningham’s wife Amanda spoke openly about the fact that the couple has been to marriage counseling in an Instagram video regarding healthcare coverage, the Post and Courier reported.
That led to regional press secretary for the NRCC Camile Gallo, who authored Friday’s post about Cunningham, to send an email blast attacking the couple. “Does this mean he believes taxpayers should pay for his marriage counseling and his wife’s therapy sessions, too?” Gallo wrote.
The tone tone of that message, and the blog post at NRCC’s website by Gallo, match the tone and tenor of the original tweet as well as the meme reply. It also matches that of Gallo’s personal Twitter account. The official NRCC
Much like the official feed, NRCC communications director Chris Pack responded to criticism on Twitter snidely. He offered a fair game argument referencing the Courier article linked above.

Just a reminder, the GOP has been like this since Gingrich. So all the people complaining about how trump has made things so much worse just ignored it for 20 years.
@HankP: Not disagreeing, really, but a lot of people who stayed under their respective rocks didn’t fully emerge till Trump gave them a voice. And, actually, I’d trace it back to Pat Buchanan and his “peasants with pitchforks” speech.

This trash writes this shit while supporting someone who’s been married three times and cheated on each one of his wives…whether it be budget deficits or this nonsense, obviously hypocrisy is a strong GOP value…

Think about altering the headline.
In reading the current version, I staeted reading the story expected it was from a Senate committee.
The NRCC is GOP and a committee, yes. The headline is not misleading or infactual, just I expected one thing and got another.
(You can blow me off; it’s basically a quibble.)
Maybe “GOP Campaign Committee…”
This happens because a lot of folks have internalized a false belief that they and their world-view are more truly “American” and are supported by the majority, silent or not.
They got their asses kicked 2018, and are gonna get their asses kicked in 2020.
Keep up the smug dismissiveness, NRCC. It hurts you way more than you realize.

If I were Camile, I don’t think I’d want the identity of “any rando #MAGA troll” if I were the press secretary of anything, but maybe I don’t see the bigger picture because I’m an ignint cracker.
