    Yeah. Longhair country is the greatest genre in the history of popular music. If you stretch the category widely enough, it encompasses Elvis, the more bluegrass-oriented folkies (like the Dillards), the cowpunks of the 80s (Blasters, Rank and File), all the way up to the alt-country bands of the last decade or so. PPL were kind of in the mold of Poco, the band Richie Furay and Jim Messina started when Buffalo Springfield broke up.

    Y’all might like this one: it’s “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere”, the Byrds tune that opens their country-rock landmark recording Sweetheart Of The Rodeo. But this version is the Byrds with bluegrass stalwart Earl Scruggs, and his sons (I think).
