His most recent book is the co-authored A Different Democracy: American Government in a 31-Country Perspective.     Heh, reminds me of the night a lady friend and I got drunk on a pier in GS one night and sang, “There’s a hole in my bucket” again and again and again… Maybe it was this one.

    That is just fucking stunning.

    I felt, imagined myself there witnessing that sight, feeling what it would feel like.

    Photos are great because they give you the curated version of what it looked like there and then. Stephen and I are extremely simpatico on what makes a good photo in framing, composition, feel, tone. The contemplative observer.

    A good photo puts you in a place and a time. It’s a poem fragment. It makes you feel intensely.
