Dear Friend,

On Saturday afternoon, we released a new Internet ad about the lies being spread by the so-called “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.” We asked you to call on George Bush to stop using campaign shills to smear the record of John Kerry and other Vietnam veterans. Your response was amazing — more than 150,000 of you signed our petition. Incredible!

Wow! How many people are on your list?

If you haven’t seen the ad yet, you can view it by visiting:

I’ve seen it. It’s inane. Why doesn’t Kerry just answer the charges and release the records the Washington Post and others have called for? Wouldn’t that be more effective than spouting lies against your opponent?

Oh, and a strategic tip for you: It’s not necessarily in your interest to remind people that McCain and Bush had a big falling out in 2000. McCain has endorsed Bush, after all. So voters might quite reasonably muse to themselves, “Hmm. McCain doesn’t like Bush. He’s served with Kerry for years in the Senate. Both went to Vietnam. And he still won’t support Kerry?”

You sent a powerful message to the media, the Bush campaign, and the public: The American people are tired of the lies being told about John Kerry’s service in Vietnam.

Why would the public need a message to learn that the public is tired of something? Is it your contention that the media is lying about Kerry’s service? What lies is the Bush campaign? Also, is John Kerry going to stop lying about his service now?

On behalf of John Kerry, I want to say thank you. I also want to ask you to forward this petition to your friends, family, and co-workers.

Will do!

There’s still time to sign the petition — just click here: http://www.johnkerry.com/oldtricks

You’ve already sent a strong message — now help us reach 300,000 signatures by forwarding this email now.
