Ice, ice, what?

Via The Hill: Trump’s Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve party features ’90s rapper Vanilla Ice.

Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Rob Van Winkle, entertained the crowd at former President Trump’s resort alongside another 1990s pop culture staple, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

[…]

The evening also included an Elvis impersonator, who Trump watched in a ballroom, seated at what appears to be a dinner table.

My brain hurts.

I don’t know about Mr. Ice, but I do know something about Michelangelo. I may be breaking a law in Florida, but Signor Buonarroti was gay. Are the Mar-a-lago people big supporters of gay cultural figures?

ETA but somehow I’m not surprised at this cheesy a double header entertainment for his orangeness.

@Beth: TMNT 2 was the first time I ever saw Vanilla Ice. I had no idea who he was, but I thought he sucked, as did the film. (I was 14.) It’s about the absolute cringiest, cheesiest ’90s reference I could imagine, and that’s saying something.

I know he isn’t the only former rap star who went MAGA, but he’s kind of perfect for the movement: a white guy who lied about his past; he was kind of the George Santos of rappers.

Green Day changing a lyric to apply it to DJT for New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will do. But I kind of wish someone prominent would have invited YG to perform this.
