I agree that we should fix our budget and our health care, but find the idea that this is the main difference between us and Germany to be preposterous.
Educational systems are far different (something you acknowledge in the audio), but you still want to count total degrees. That is an unresolved contradiction in your position.
My link, with our poor grades in science and engineering seem a pretty solid answer to that. Can you engage at all with our “D” grade? As opposed to Germany’s “A?”
As it happens, I don’t think we need to filter children at 4th grade. We just have to stop subsidizing bad degrees (where bad degrees are those degrees without ROI, which create a deadweight loss in our economy.)
