John McCain: $1 Coin Means Higher Tips For Strippers
Senator John McCain has a unique argument in favor of getting rid of the paper dollar:
Sen. John McCain has a wish for any exotic dancers who might feel the pinch from legislation he’s backing that would do away with the dollar bill and replace it with a dollar coin: Shake what your momma gave you and make more moolah.
(…)
When pressed about the predicament facing scores of the country’s skin-baring and bill-collecting women, McCain responded without missing a beat, “Then I hope that they could obtain larger denominations.”
The 76-year-old lawmaker began answering another reporter’s prying questions before cracking a smile and hollering to ITK down a Capitol hallway, “Fives, tens, one-hundreds!”
One wonders what research the Senator has carried out to back this assertion up.
well, i don’t frequent strip clubs but i don’t think a single dollar gets you much anymore! $5 minimum, big spender.
Wouldn’t they have to wear coinpurses for that to work?
@Tillman: yeah, but they’d be weighed down quickly! i thought of another thing but it’s too lewd for this site,
@Tillman: They’re built in.
I guess I went where bill wouldn’t go.
So John McCain is in favour of strippers getting $5 plus! Hope Cindy goes along with that notion. Or John maybe visiting that strip joint because Cindy kicked him out.
So I’m wondering: we usually slip dollar bills into strippers bottoms. That won’t work with coins? Where are we going to slip them now? Wait, I just got an idea in my head and ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
From what the article in The Hill says, it sounds like McCain didn’t present that as an argument, but instead responded to a reporter’s question about it.
If you guys read anything other than the headline, you would see that his argument isn’t that they could somehow fit more coins than bills, but rather that patrons would be forced to switch from $1 bills to a higher denomination.
Tipping with dollar and two-dollar coins happens all the time in Canada.
@Christopher Bowen:
I would think a dollar coin, if not to big, would slip into a stripper’s bottom easier than a dollar bill? I’ve only slipped it into their garter and on occasion a g-string. I’m fairly certain in the jurisdictions I’ve been in, even in foreign countries sticking a dollar in her bottom is illegal. Not to mention unappealing.
On the other hand, with dollar coins, after a good dance, the poor girl would have to crawl off the stage with her booty.
Hey, I think that I finally heard of someone who might actually be getting a pay raise! President Obama can now say the economy is improving.
IN all seriousness, my wife tells me that strip clubs in Australia — which has a $1 coin and a $2 coin — sell you house paper currency that you then give to the dancers.
(And no, she didn’t learn that by dancing in them.:)
@Hal 10000: Same in Germany, where the smallest denomination bill is 5 Euro. When you go into the strip club you buy paper “house dollars” and tip the girls with those.
John McCain is probably the guy who leaves a 5%-10% tip at a nice restaurant, figuring that, well “it was their job to serve me.”
on his WORST day, the former pow is smarter than the jerk we have in the chair with his Cole-Haans up on an antique desk…he belongs in a chair…electric, that is
