Bush On Palin: Not Qualified To Be President
You’re unlikely to hear much from George W. Bush publicly about the upcoming battle for the GOP nomination, but he’s apparently expressed his opinions privately:
Two years of retirement haven’t dulled George W. Bush’s political zest – and President Obama and Sarah Palin are among his under-the-radar targets.
The 43rd President has told friends the ex-Alaska governor isn’t qualified to be President and criticizes Arizona Sen. John McCain for putting Palin on the 2008 GOP ticket and handing her a national platform.
“Naming Palin makes Bush think less of McCain as a man,” a Republican official familiar with Bush’s thinking told the Daily News.
“He thinks McCain ran a lousy campaign with an unqualified running mate and destroyed any chance of winning by picking Palin.”
Publicly, Bush is decidedly not interested in commenting on politics at all:
I watched the video. I heard nothing out of President Bush’s mouth that verified the allegations made here. The news article? More cowardly anonymous sources repeating second-hand, third-hand or even more distant allegations. Nowhere has President Bush gone on record and said Gov. Palin is not qualified to be President.
Again, many of the people calling her qualifications into question were OK with the Community Organizer in Chief two years ago, the ultimate in empty suit resumes.
This seems to be more leakes from the GOP Establishment, which is so frightened of Sarah Palin it wets itself over and over again.
Remember: it was the GOP Establishment that also said Ronald Reagan was not qualified to be President and was not electable. Deep down, after two landslide elections, I still think they believe that.
How could she be qualified? Her daddy wasn’t president. Worse yet, she has attacked the establishment clearly showing insufficient deference to those in power.//sarcasm off//
I highly doubt Bush is naive enough to claim that McCain lost any chance of winning by naming a running mate that fired up an otherwise disinterested base. McCain’s campaign was on life support before Palin came on the ticket. The “is she/he qualified?” question is stupid. If someone is 35 years old and a citizen from birth they are qualified. Once someone meats the minimum qualifications then they have the obligation to convince the voting public that they are the best choice to serve in the office. That speaks of personal qualities like temperment, communication skills and experience. She and a dozen other potential candidates have a year to convince people they’re electable, raise money, & sell their idea for the role of government in our life.
still smarting from Tuesday Doug ? don’t worry it will all be over in 2 years …
We’ve got a new winner in the contest for most self-pity displayed by a rightwinger — Underground Conservative is so oppressed by the man that he believes that the Republican establishment — every member of which invokes the name of Reagan in the same tone and the do the name Jesus — doesn’t believe he should have been president. Way to rationalize rooting for the grifters, UC — only you are pure enough and victimized enough to know the truth.
“Bush On Palin: Not Qualified To Be President”
Takes one to know one…
“I highly doubt Bush is naive enough to claim that McCain lost any chance of winning by naming a running mate that fired up an otherwise disinterested base.”
Maybe at the time she was picked. But I doubt he would have said this after the campaign.
I think you are lying about Bush saying that.
Doug have you thought about seeking professional counseling?
