Eyewitness Photos Of Watertown Shootout With Tsarnaev Brothers

Around 12:45am last Friday, a gun battle began out side Andrew Kitzenberg’s home in Watertown, Mass. Amazingly, we was able to take some pretty up-close photos out his windows as the gunfire blazed outside.

    NPR had an interview with the girl who was briefly deafened by the Texas blast and her father. It turns out

    (a) that they had driven closer to the fire so the girl could get some cell phone shots,
    (b) they stayed in their truck,
    (c) a group of other onlookers walked out into a field to get better cell phone shots,
    (d) after the blast those other people were “gone.”

    Stay safe out there folks.

    Why do people insist on taking tenuous first reports as gospel and proof of deception? Those comments are depressing.

    Those pictures are pretty incredible. Just don’t read the comments below if you value your sanity.

    my favorite has to be “it was fake because PHOTOSHOP”

    Re. those comments, it would obviously be crazy to join a shootout in the dark, without knowing the back-story.

    For what it’s worth though, I remember a story from my youth. A guy coming back from a hunting trip was sitting in his truck, when he saw a policeman pull over a car some ways down the road. As he watched, the policeman got out, and was immediately shot by the driver. So the hunter got out his rifle, and shot the driver dead from where he was parked. It was ruled “reasonable assistance.”

    @john personna: lol “reasonable assistance”? I never knew that one existed..

    I was already mentally calling the dude taking the pictures a moron before he even showed the bullet hole in his room mates wall. People are dumb apparently and don’t realize that stray rifle bullets will penetrate walls, car doors and other objects. With the shoddy construction I’ve seen even a .223 can penetrate a wall..

    Wow at the comments. Taking a shot at a suspect in the middle of that mess would of almost certainly resulted in the police taking shots at you..

    @Matt:

    I woulda been in my bathtub, for sure.

  8. Matt says:

    @john personna: I second that.

    EDIT : Assuming you have a real bath tub and it’s not up against the wall facing the shootout ;P
