Heath Ledger to Play Joker

I'm not sure if that's an inspired choice or an insane one. However, given that Batman Begins was by far last year's best movie, I have confidence that Christopher Nolan knows what he's doing.

Warner Brothers has just issued a press release stating that Heath Ledger will be playing the Clown Prince of Crime in the upcoming sequel to Batman Begins.

As a follow up to last year’s blockbuster Batman Begins, Christopher Nolan is set to direct Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Dark Knight, written by Jonathan Nolan, based on a story by Christopher Nolan and David Goyer. The film will be produced by Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan. Additionally, Christian Bale will resume his role as Bruce Wayne and Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger has been cast as The Joker. The announcements were made today by Jeff Robinov, President of Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.

I’m not sure if that’s an inspired choice or an insane one. However, given that Batman Begins was by far last year’s best movie, I have confidence that Christopher Nolan knows what he’s doing.

Christopher Nolan hasn’t made a bad move yet, in my book. He’s one of my favorite directors, and Batman Begins was fantastic. Ledger wouldn’t have been my choice, but maybe it’ll work.

  2. I didn’t know the Joker went that way. Oh well, anything’s possible these days.

Hey, don’t forget, Heath Ledger played Casanova, too….
