College marching bands may not be your thing, but this video of The Ohio State University Marching Band’s halftime show during Saturday’s 63-38 trouncing of Nebraska should appeal to the gamer in all of us:
Doug Mataconis held a B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University and J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. He joined the staff of OTB in May 2010 and contributed a staggering 16,483 posts before his retirement in January 2020. He passed far too young in July 2021.
The horse, about 6 minutes in, may be the best formation ever. And I say that as a Michigan alum who used to walk past band practice almost every day during the Fall.
Actually, I didn’t recognize most of the formations as related to games (so much for “the gamer in all of us”), but they did a good job on the formations, the marching was tight, and the music as unrecognizable as any I’ve ever heard a marching band do, so they get a “well done” from me.

OK, that was admittedly awesome.

And I agree, the horse is impressive!
I think my favorite part was how there wasn’t a symbol representative of Halo, so they just did the title.
I’m too much of a nerd, but they were playing Super Mario music over Pacman. Which, really, is a good move since Pacman doesn’t have good music.
